refresh + renew

I am spending a weekend away from Jackson Hole,  in my hometown of Chicago.  It has been a much needed break from a chaotic four months and the perfect fix of a true spring weather.  I feel completely refreshed and renewed!  If you can't spend a weekend away, a fete with this fresh palette should also do the trick!
Happy Weekend!

beautiful {built in beer menu} booth

A friend recently introduced me to the work of one very talented craftsman, Tyler Bradford.  Tyler is based in San Francisco and specializes in one of a kind furniture for restaurants and private residences.  I am particularly crazy about the beautiful booths he created for Abbot's Cellar that brilliantly integrate beer menus into the side of the tables...

 The rest of this restaurant is pretty stunning as well...

That last image is a sink, by the way - pretty darn cool, no?

I have to say that I am absolutely crazy about this contemporary and gorgeous treatment to traditional mounts. The was that Ashely Tudor mixes bronze with the antlers is just breathtaking...
Pretty fabulous, no?

aesthetic questioning {rustic modern}

I was recently asked how I defined a rustic modern aesthetic?  It was a perplexing question, as I live in a town where "rustic" conjures up visions of taxidermy, oversized furniture and antler chandeliers. However for me it is all about simplicity and natural materials.  Add the clean lines of modern style and this is how I would answer the question...

What is your take on rustic modern? Honestly, all I know is that I love my interpretation of it!

Palette Perfection

While enjoying a nice quiet Monday evening I decided to catch up on a rather large stack of reading, of the shelter pub variety (of course!) It has been a while since I have felt inclined to post a home directly from the pages of a mainstream glossy, however I could re-post this home from Veranda over and over again. It has a serene neutral palette with metallic touches and detailing that create a look that is anything but boring or washed out. I am especially crazy about the brass doors and the door hardware in the dining area.
And then there are the amazing doors and island in the kitchen - love love love!

sunset ready

I think there is only one thing that would make "springing forward" my clock bearable and that would be the excitement of a spring break getaway on the horizon. Sadly, that is not the case. Not that I am complaining, as living in Jackson Hole every day is considered a lifelong vacation. However, I could use a dose of toes feeling sand and sleeping to the sound of lapping waves. If that did happen, these would be my go to sunset ready accessories...

craving {custom ann sacks tile}

Chevron patterns, deep turquoise and Ann Sacks tile - easily three of my favorite things. Combine these elements into one fabulous custom backsplash and am instantly twitterpated.

This is a bold look, yes, but the sleek lines throughout the rest of the kitchen really let the tile be center stage and prevent the space from looking too juvenile, don't you agree?

keeping it simple

Life has been a bit hectic as of late, in the most wonderful way! However, it has left me craving everything and anything clean lined and unprententious...

kitchens {clean + simple}

When it comes to kitchens, I love to keep it clean and simple. All of these kitchens remind me exactly why. Each one is like a breath of fresh air. Cooking dinner is my absolute favorite way to unwind and a clutter free sleek kitchen make the experience of connoting something elaborate all the better.
